Speech Title: Evaluation of various solid waste produced after the Great East Japan Earthquake

Abstract: The Great East Japan Earthquake (March 2011) damaged the east area of Japan seriously and about 20,000 people were killed. And still Japan has not recovered yet. During recovery work, we had experienced many fires and accidents, especially in the area around Fukushima nuclear plant area. For example, spontaneous ignitions and fires from disaster waste and radioactive waste which was emitted from nuclear plant by explosion, and tsunami wave. Some of them will be re-used for bio-fuel and constructive materials. To avoid ignitions and fires, we conducted safety evaluation for these materials using high sensitive calorimeters. In this paper, these process and research results are shown, that is, they caused faint heat generation and then caused fires after proper temperature in solid materials.. However they are much safer than most solid biomass fuel, because they contained some amount of incombustible materials.
