Speech Title: The Key Role of Hydrogen in CO
2 Emission Reduction
Abstract: With the Paris Agreement in 2015, 195 countries have stipulated a challenging unique climate deal to keep the global temperature rise below 2 degrees Celsius this century. A successful outcome of this global effort can only be achieved by limiting greenhouse gas emissions, through a full decarbonisation of the energy systems and by working out innovative solutions for the mobility sector. In this context, Hydrogen plays a key role providing long term storage solutions for renewable energies and allowing CO
2-free mobility. In this paper, a global overview of the worldwide climate neutrality activities and their progress shall be given, with particular focus on hydrogen related projects and on the German Energiewende.
