Speech Title: Multi-Walled Carbon Nanotubes-Metal-Organic Frameworks Composites for Hydrogen Sorption

Abstract: Adsorption of gases on porous solids has many advantages over the various gas storage techniques. Carbon nanostructures and metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) are among the porous solids that have been studied widely for gas storage applications. Metal-organic frameworks are attracting attention in clean energy applications, due to their advantages such as their controllable structures, high surface areas, permanent porosities, and being good precursors for the synthesis of many kinds of nanostructured materials and composites. This study investigates the surface and hydrogen sorption characteristics of multi-walled carbon nanotubes modified by certain types of metal-organic frameworks. Textural properties, such as surface area and pore structure of the materials obtained were studied by a volumetric method using nitrogen adsorption data at 77.4 K. Experiments for the evaluation of the hydrogen sorption characteristics were also carried out at 77.4 K. The multi-walled carbon nanotubes-metal-organic frameworks composites obtained were analysed in terms of their surface and hydrogen sorption characteristics.
