Speech Title: Partial Gasification of Coal as advanced technology with high economic and ecological effect

Abstract: For many years coal will remain one of the most important fuels in the world, so we need more effective and environmentally friendly technologies for its use. The essence of partial coal gasification consists in conversion a high-volatile coal into gaseous fuel and carbon residue (thermocoke). This process is carried out in a standard coal-fired boiler modified in a specific way. Gas burns in the boiler, providing its thermal power with reduced harmful emissions (including CO2 drops by 25-30%). Grained thermocoke is discharged out and processed before delivery to consumers as a top-grade fuel (25-29 MJ/kg) or carbon reducer for metallurgy. The sale of such product usually compensates for the cost of raw coal so that gas fuel can be considered as an additional free product of this technology or vice versa. Since the boiler emissions are attributed to generated heat energy, the thermocoke is produced with zero emissions. In the case of low-ash coal such boiler does not have slag waste because ash is capsulated in solid product.

Thus, the technology of partial coal gasification by environmental indicators is approaching the burning of natural gas, and its economic efficiency is much higher of the level achieved by the known technologies of this class.
